* The Who: Local men donate a few hours of their time to auction off a skill, service or lesson. Single or hitched, gay or straight, creative or business minded, we want a variety of Vermont’s best men! (No need to be Burlington based or willing to get on stage – we have both a live & silent auction, so men can strut their stuff or be a silent auction-ee)
* The What: Men: think of what you do best & offer a few hours to support the women around you! From a ski lessons to a catered meal; a legal consultation or a sailing trip; a shoveled walkway or a great night out – Last year was a blast and we can’t wait to get the slate of Cinderfella 2010 men!
* The Where & How: Meet us at The Higher Ground on Wednesday September 14th.Bids are made! Men are cheered! Drinks are drunk! Money is raised! Fun is had!
Friday Aug 15- 11;30 am SPEAKING ACS-CAN “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” fundraising event, is having their Kickoff event on Church Street. Please join me as I Speak to the crowd about my commitment to taking action for increasing awareness and prevention in cancer. I will share a brief synopses of my early diagnosis with cervical cancer at 29 and what my hopes are to lower the burden of that disease.
September 18, HPV Party- The Hicks Foundation is having an educational HPV party in Danville, Vermont to raise awareness about HPV and the cancers it causes. To talk about increasing vaccine uptake and educate the community about cervical cancer risks. We hope to raise some money as well as community support for the movie we will bring to St. Johnsbury Oct 13. Our goal is to get locals involved to help us pack the house for this FREE movie event. Anyone is welcome. great place to share information and if you know anyone in the area that would like to come, let me know and I will invite them. It is being held at a very large private home. Room for all.
Sept. 27-30 I head to Washington DC with ACS-CAN for Lobby day SPONSOR ALLISON for “ Light up Hope Campaign” . We sell candelabra’s in honor of someone you are separated with cancer with by #onedegree . The evening before me meet with our state representatives we light our bags of hope on the steps of the capital to SHOW the Congress how many of us are effected by cancer. Very powerful effect. The meeting’s with our State Representatives are to share out cancer stories and educate them on the needs for funding dollars for cancer research , prevention dollars and education awareness. Please sponsor my trip to light your bag for Vermont’s Lights of Hope so we can MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND RAISE AWARENESS in Congress.
Friday, Oct 2. REGISTER NOW! For the Women’s Health & Breast Cancer Conference. I look forward to seeing most of you there. The Hicks Foundation will be hosting a “Coffee Chat” in the first session leading up to the session 2 HPV and Cancer talk. A Survivor’s View of Cervical Cancer / Allison Hicks / This coffee chat will tell the story of the challenges faced by a young cancer survivor, including chronic pain, radiation damage to bones, surgically induced menopause, and other post-treatment issues that rarely get discussed. Survivor Allison Hicks will also discuss the Hicks Foundation, which seeks to increase awareness about HPV and its connection to cancer.
Saturday, Oct 3.9am-1pm at UVM Cancer Center. Ladies First and the UVM Medical Center and The Hicks Foundation are hosting the first collaboration together at this location for a Women’s Wellness Day that focuses on FREE screening for Pap tests, mammograms & heart healthy exams. We will be providing educational tote bags, food and daycare services
